Well, you write all your books about old rock and roll

The 50s, the 60s, the boogie, the soul

You put it on record, and sometimes you lie

But the artists, they lived, and they loved, and they died…

So I bought a guitar, and I learned me some tunes

I wrote me some songs, but they fell into ruins

And the music kept coming, I know how we tried
