Go out and stuff the universe into your eyes

Out together on the streets

At the barricades or in the sheets

What a scintillating bitch with her eyes on the light

Why do we remember the past and not the future?

What is the nature of the universe?

How does it work?

Which way is west in space?

I’m not afraid of ideas

I’m not afraid to shake the foundation

Of the wonder years

These are visions of tomorrow

These are visions of the strength of ideas

Like matter and energy, ideas shape the sky

Of the future years

In my world, there are no hungry children

In my world, love is true

In my world, teachers get paid more than baseball players

In my world, there is you, but

In the real world, people get hungry

In the real world, people need love

In the real world, people need food and light and ideas

And hope and love and a soothing human touch

Just like they’re

Standing in the presence of god

Standing in the halls of imagination

Every boy a lion, every girl a tiger

It just takes a moment to step through the fire

Adventure beckons from above

War das nicht eine Zeit der Liebe?

War das nicht eine Zeit für Fantasie?

War das nicht eine Zeit für das Licht?

Geh raus und stopfe dir das Universum in die Augen

Gemeinsam auf die Straße

Auf den Barrikaden oder in den Laken

Was für eine funkelnde Schlampe mit ihren Augen im Licht

«Let’s go to hell together» in ihren Augen

Warum erinnern wir uns an die Vergangenheit und nicht an die Zukunft?

Was befindet sich in einem Schwarzen Loch?

Was ist die Natur des Universums?

Wie funktioniert es?

Welche Richtung ist im Weltraum westlich?

Gibt es Sex im Himmel?

Ist es das Beste?

Verbinde mich mit meinem Intellekt, log sie

Sie können den Sexualtrieb nicht verbergen

Reibung macht Funken, Funken machen Feuer

Feuer macht Hitze und die Hitze wird bis zum Ende anhalten

Animal kommt mit einer Wildheit, die nicht unähnlich ist

Du und ich in der Poesie

Das Auge eines Liebhabers kann einen Adler blind anstarren

Das Ohr eines Liebhabers kann den leisesten Ton hören

Die Lippen eines Liebhabers schmecken wie der Traum

Ich weiß, dass es dir gefällt, hör nicht auf

War das nicht eine Zeit für das Licht?

War das nicht eine Zeit für gute Ideen?

War das nicht eine Zeit der Liebe und Gefahr?

Geh raus und stopfe dir das Universum in die Augen

Die einzige Antwort, die ich gefunden habe

Über dem Himmel oder unter der Erde

Dass es keine Antworten gibt

Antworten gab es nie

Es wird niemals Antworten geben

Und wie Gertrude Stein sagte: „Das ist die Antwort“

Ich habe keine Angst vor der Zukunft

Ich habe keine Angst vor Ideen

Ich habe keine Angst, das Fundament zu erschüttern

Von den Wunderjahren

Das sind Visionen von morgen

Das sind Visionen von der Kraft der Ideen

Wie Materie und Energie formen Ideen den Himmel

Von den zukünftigen Jahren

In meiner Welt gibt es keine hungrigen Kinder

In meiner Welt ist Liebe wahr

In meiner Welt werden Lehrer besser bezahlt als Baseballspieler

In meiner Welt gibt es dich, aber

In der realen Welt werden Menschen hungrig

In der realen Welt brauchen Menschen Liebe

In der realen Welt brauchen Menschen Nahrung, Licht und Ideen

Und Hoffnung und Liebe und eine beruhigende menschliche Berührung

So wie sie sind

In der Gegenwart Gottes stehen

Stehend in den Hallen der Fantasie

Jeder Junge ein Löwe, jedes Mädchen ein Tiger

Es dauert nur einen Moment, um durch das Feuer zu treten

Das Abenteuer lockt von oben

Das Zeitalter der Poesie beginnt erneut mit der Liebe
