Well in 1814, we took a little trip

Along with Colonel Packenham down the mighty Mississipp'

We took a little bacon and we took a little beans

And we fought the bloomin British in the town of New Orleans

Well, we fired our guns and the British kept a comin'

There wasn’t nigh as many as there was a while ago

We fired once more and they began a running

On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexicoooo, yeh

Weeell, we looked down the river till we see the British come

There must have been a hundred of 'em beatin' on the drum

They stepped so high and they made the bugles ring

Well, we stood beside our cotton bales and never sayed a thing

Nun, wir standen neben unseren Baumwollballen und sagten nie etwas

Nun, wir haben unsere Waffen abgefeuert und die Briten kamen weiter

Nun, Packenham sagte, wir könnten sie überraschen

Wenn wir keine Muskete abgefeuert hätten, bis wir ihnen in die Augen gesehen hätten

Und sie rannten durch die Büsche, wo die Kaninchen nicht hin konnten

Sie rannten so schnell, dass die Hunde sie nicht einholen konnten

Nun, wir haben unsere Waffen abgefeuert und die Briten kamen weiter

Es waren nicht annähernd so viele wie vor einer Weile

Wir feuerten noch einmal und sie begannen zu rennen

Nun, wir haben unsere Musketen abgefeuert, damit die Fässer einschmolzen

Dann haben wir uns einen Alligator geschnappt und wir haben eine weitere Runde gekämpft

Nun, wir haben seinen Kopf mit Kanonenkugeln vollgestopft und seinen Hintern gepudert

Als wir also das Pulver berührten, verlor der Alligator den Verstand

Nun, wir haben unsere Waffen abgefeuert und die Briten kamen weiter
