Sounds of the Studio (Prelude) - Madlib

Before we go any further I’d like to show you all a game I made up.

This game is called «Sounds of the Studio», and it can be played with any

record, including this one

You can play it, uh, with… you can play it with your favorite record — you

may be surprised.

Now if you have a pair of headphones you better get 'em out

and get 'em cranked up 'cause they’re really gonna help you on this one

Now I’m sure you all recognize this.

(hissing noise) This is called hiss.

It comes on records that were mastered lousy, or, uh, mono re-processed for

stereo, or any number of things

(Humming noise) This of course, is hum

P’s popping — This is the sound of bad editing

And here’s what happens when the machine gains control and mangles your tape.

Punch… outs

Now all you have to do is find these sounds on the record, and whoever finds

the most wins of course

But don’t-

Yo we got a lot of superstars in the house

So get ready for some

Bevor wir weitermachen, möchte ich euch allen ein Spiel zeigen, das ich mir ausgedacht habe.

Dieses Spiel heißt „Sounds of the Studio“ und kann mit jedem gespielt werden

Aufzeichnung, einschließlich dieser

Du kannst es spielen, äh, mit … du kannst es mit deiner Lieblingsplatte spielen – mit dir

kann überrascht sein.

Wenn Sie jetzt Kopfhörer haben, holen Sie sie besser raus

und lass sie aufdrehen, denn sie werden dir bei diesem hier wirklich helfen

Ich bin mir sicher, dass Sie das alle erkennen.

(zischendes Geräusch) Dies wird als Zischen bezeichnet.

Es kommt auf Platten, die mies gemastert oder, äh, für Mono nachbearbeitet wurden

Stereo oder eine Reihe von Dingen

(Brummgeräusch) Das ist natürlich ein Brummen

P’s knallt – Das ist das Geräusch von schlechter Bearbeitung

Und das passiert, wenn die Maschine die Kontrolle übernimmt und Ihr Band verstümmelt.

Jetzt müssen Sie nur noch diese Sounds auf der Platte finden und wer auch immer sie findet

die meisten gewinnt natürlich
