A Fairytale Ending - The Boy Least Likely To

When I was young I was valiant and bold

I fought off dragons and wrestled with trolls

I was stupid

But I was brave

I’m still as stupid as I was before

And although I’m not that young anymore

I’m still valiant

In my own little way

Limping off into the sunset

With our tails between our legs

Remembering how it all started

And wondering if this is the way that

My fairytale ends

I still remember how gallant I felt

In a suit of armor that I made myself

Out of tin foil

And milk bottle tops

I guess that I’m just like everyone else

I find it difficult to be myself

So I pretend

To be something I’m not

But in the end everything has to Turn back into pumpkins and frogs

I wish that it didn’t have to And I’m wondering if this is the way that

Als ich jung war, war ich tapfer und mutig

Ich habe gegen Drachen gekämpft und mit Trollen gerungen

Ich war dumm

Aber ich war mutig

Ich bin immer noch so dumm wie zuvor

Und obwohl ich nicht mehr ganz so jung bin

Ich bin immer noch tapfer

Auf meine eigene kleine Art und Weise

Hinken in den Sonnenuntergang

Mit unseren Schwänzen zwischen unseren Beinen

Sich daran erinnern, wie alles begann

Und frage mich, ob das so ist

Ich erinnere mich noch, wie galant ich mich fühlte

In einer Rüstung, die ich selbst gemacht habe

Aus Alufolie

Und Milchflaschenverschlüsse

Ich glaube, ich bin wie alle anderen

Es fällt mir schwer, ich selbst zu sein

Also tue ich so

Etwas zu sein, was ich nicht bin

Aber am Ende muss sich alles wieder in Kürbisse und Frösche verwandeln

Ich wünschte, es müsste nicht sein, und ich frage mich, ob das so ist
