Last night I had a dream.

I found myself in a desert called Cyberland

It was hot.

My canteen had sprung a leak and I was thirsty

Out of the abyss walked a cow -- Elsie

I asked if she had anything to drink

She said, «I'm forbidden to produce milk

In Cyberland, we only drink Diet Coke.»

She said, «Only thing to do is jump over the moon»

«They've closed everything real down … like barns, troughs, and

Performance spaces …

And replaced it all with lies and rules and virtual life

But there is a way out …

Then a little bulldog entered.

His name (we have learned) was Benny

And although he once had principles

He abandoned them to live as a lap dog to a wealthy daughter of the

Revolution

«That's bull,» he said

«Ever since the cat took up the fiddle, that cow’s been jumpy

And the dish and the spoon were evicted from the table -- and eloped

She’s had trouble with that milk and the moon ever since

Maybe it’s a female thing

'Cause who’d want to leave Cyberland anyway…

Walls ain’t so bad

They were down on their luck — knocked on my doghouse door

I said, «Not in my backyard, utensils!

«The only way out is up,» Elsie whispered to me

she asked

Parched.

«Have some milk.»

I lowered myself beneath her and held my mouth to her swollen udder

And sucked the sweetest milk I’d ever tasted.»

(MAUREEN makes a slurping, sucking sound.)

«Climb on board,» she said

And as a harvest moon rose over Cyberland

We reared back and sprang into a gallop

Leaping out of orbit!!!

I awoke singing

Letzte Nacht hatte ich einen Traum.

Ich fand mich in einer Wüste namens Cyberland wieder

Es war heiß.

Meine Kantine war ein Leck und ich hatte Durst

Aus dem Abgrund kam eine Kuh – Elsie

Ich fragte, ob sie etwas zu trinken hätte

Sie sagte: „Mir ist es verboten, Milch zu produzieren

Im Cyberland trinken wir nur Diät-Cola.»

Sie sagte: "Das Einzige, was zu tun ist, ist über den Mond zu springen."

«Sie haben wirklich alles geschlossen … wie Scheunen, Tröge und

Aufführungsräume …

Und alles durch Lügen und Regeln und virtuelles Leben ersetzt

Aber es gibt einen Ausweg …

Von einer selbstmörderischen Micky Maus!

Dann kam eine kleine Bulldogge herein.

Sein Name (wie wir erfahren haben) war Benny

Und obwohl er einst Prinzipien hatte

Er gab sie auf, um als Schoßhund für eine wohlhabende Tochter der Familie zu leben

Revolution

„Das ist Bulle“, sagte er

„Seit die Katze die Geige übernommen hat, ist diese Kuh nervös

Und die Schüssel und der Löffel wurden vom Tisch geräumt – und durchgebrannt

Seitdem hat sie Probleme mit dieser Milch und dem Mond

Vielleicht ist es eine weibliche Sache

Denn wer würde Cyberland schon verlassen wollen …

Wände sind nicht so schlimm

Die Schüssel und der Löffel zum Beispiel

Sie hatten kein Glück – klopften an meine Hundehüttentür

Ich sagte: „Nicht in meinem Hinterhof, Utensilien!

Geh zurück nach China!»

„Der einzige Ausweg ist nach oben“, flüsterte Elsie mir zu

«Ein Vertrauensvorschuss.

Immer noch durstig?»

Sie fragte

Ausgedörrt.

«Trink etwas Milch.»

Ich senkte mich unter sie und hielt meinen Mund an ihr geschwollenes Euter

Und lutschte die süßeste Milch, die ich je gekostet hatte.»

(MAUREEN macht ein schlürfendes, saugendes Geräusch.)

«Steigen Sie an Bord», sagte sie

Und als ein Erntemond über Cyberland aufging

Wir bäumten uns auf und sprangen in einen Galopp

Sprung aus der Umlaufbahn!!!

Ich bin singend aufgewacht
