There’s a little cafe' on the corner of town

Lucy works there 'til the sun goes down

It ain’t very much but she brings home

The bacon and the bread

We got a mortgage we pay just a little bit on

But it seems like all of our money is gone

Lucy arbeitet dort bis die Sonne untergeht

Es ist nicht sehr viel, aber sie bringt es mit nach Hause

Der Speck und das Brot

Wir haben eine Hypothek, für die wir nur ein bisschen bezahlen

Aber es scheint, als wäre unser ganzes Geld weg

Bevor wir eine Chance bekommen, weiterzukommen

Das sind Kleinigkeiten, wir schwitzen nicht die Kleinigkeiten

Warum sich Gedanken über die Hypothek und den Mindestlohn machen

Verkehr und Steuern und das Erwachsenwerden

Es gibt einen Trost in dem Wissen, dass ein Geist in uns ist

Das gibt uns den Mut und die Weisheit zu vertrauen

In einer Liebe, die so viel größer ist als all die kleinen Dinge

Wir schwitzen also nicht über Kleinigkeiten

In der Decke oben ist ein kleines Loch

Manchmal tropft der Regen auf unseren Tempel der Liebe

Wir müssen einen Klecks in die Mitte des Bettes legen

Jemand hat gestern Abend im Diner mein Auto angefahren

Musste es mit einem Rücklicht nach Hause fahren

Als ich heute Morgen rausging, war der Motor tot
