Stand guard over what is mine

Stand guard day and night to watch over me and mine

I keep at a distance, it suits me just fine

I need no assistance, I stand guard all the time

I meant it as a threat

It’s a promise you can keep

Don’t want no interference

Standing up in my sleep

Stand guard over sea and land

I watch what they’ve done to this earth, I don’t need no master plan

When all the consequences have far been outweighed by selfish reward

I feel an obligation sometimes I’m not quite sure what it’s toward

There’s got to be some reason that we all keep on living

More often than not we leave this earth

With at least two handfuls of misgiving

I stand guard over what is rightfully mine

I watch all this beauty disintegrating

To stand guard is not enough

Makes me feel like I’m waiting for something horrendous to happen

But I stand guard over family and friends

It’s all that I can do to stand here and watch how this lifetime ends

I’ve never felt as much as I feel for you now

I’m not about to stand here and watch this whole world bring you down

I see how it brings you down

But I will stand guard for you

I will stand guard over you

Ich fühle mich manchmal verpflichtet, aber ich bin mir nicht ganz sicher, worauf es ankommt

Es muss einen Grund geben, warum wir alle weiterleben

Meistens verlassen wir diese Erde

Mit mindestens zwei Handvoll Bedenken

Ich wache über das, was mir rechtmäßig gehört

Ich beobachte all diese Schönheit, die sich auflöst

Es reicht nicht aus, Wache zu stehen

Gibt mir das Gefühl, auf etwas Schreckliches zu warten

Aber ich wache über Familie und Freunde

Es ist alles, was ich tun kann, um hier zu stehen und zuzusehen, wie dieses Leben endet

Ich habe noch nie so viel gefühlt wie jetzt für dich

Ich werde nicht hier stehen und zusehen, wie diese ganze Welt dich zu Fall bringt
