You know it takes gall to reach out and try affection

On people who maybe want your touch but you can’t tell

Cause they can laugh and that’s like rejection

And you probably won’t like that very well

But I say

Das gab mir den Mut, die Hand auszustrecken und zu geben

Und das hat mir geholfen, mehr Zuneigung zu bekommen

Und Zuneigung hat mir geholfen zu leben

Also sage ich

Menschen auf der ganzen Welt sind nicht schlecht

Wenn alle so Snobs sind wie ich

Sie werden nicht das bekommen, was sie sich gewünscht haben

Zuneigung

Die Leute hungern nur danach, berührt zu werden, meinst du

Die Menschen hungern nur danach, umarmt und geküsst zu werden

Nun, Sie haben Radios und Zeitschriften und Autos

Und überall gibt es Telefone und Bücher

Aber da drüben in der Ecke sitzt ganz normale Zuneigung

Und es heißt

«Hmm, als hätten sie vergessen, dass ich da bin»

Sie wissen, dass es Mut braucht, sich zu melden und Zuneigung zu versuchen

Auf Menschen, die vielleicht Ihre Berührung wollen, aber Sie können es nicht sagen

Denn sie können lachen und das ist wie Ablehnung

Und das wird dir wahrscheinlich nicht so gut gefallen

Aber ich sage

Wenn alle weitermachen

Sie werden nicht das bekommen, was sie sich gewünscht haben
