Ready Me Ready - Pato Banton

I’m gonna tell you 'bout a thing that happen long time gone

While Pato Banton was down in London

It’s been a secret now for far too long

So right about now me want tell everyone

When I go to London I get accommodation

From my aunt Patsy who lives in Brixton

She’s young free and single and a trouble to a man

Out of the front door heading in one direction

I was walking towards Brixton tube station

On the Victoria Line I’d reach my destination

'cause it’s only ten stops from Brixton to Islington

Brixton, Stockwell, Vauxall, Pimlico

I was on my way to see a lovely woman

Victoria, Green Park, Oxford Circus, Warren St

Then the next stop was Houston

Two stops left from my destination

The King Cross (St. Panoras) then Highbury/Islington

To reach Pat’s house, it never take long

Me just ask a couple of people for the direction

Me just run up the stairs and press the intercom

A voice said: «Who's that?»

Me say: «Pato Banton.»

When she opened the door my heart went bang!

This was beauty beyond all imagination

Inside I went without no hesitation

'cause to stay all night was my intention

The tele' signed off at half past one

Then me and Pat had a short conversation

Then to the bedroom me get me invitation

So now me a go tell you what went on

The gal took off her wig and put it on a wall

Ich warf die Karten hin und rannte zum Telefon

weil ich einen Anruf von einer lieben Frau erwartet habe

Ihr Name war Pat, sie lebte im Norden von Islington

Es war entweder Liebe, Lust oder Verliebtheit

«Hallo, ist Pato da?»

war er erste Frage

Cool wie Gurke antwortete ich: «Du sprichst mit dem Mann.»

«Können Sie heute Abend vorbeikommen?»

war ihre zweite Frage

Ich sagte: «Liebling, dein Wunsch ist mein Befehl.»

Sie gab mir ihre Adresse und sagte: «Bis später.»

Ich habe einfach aufgelegt und gesagt: «Tante weg.»

Aus der Vordertür in eine Richtung

Ich ging zur U-Bahn-Station Brixton

Auf der Victoria Line würde ich mein Ziel erreichen

Denn von Brixton bis Islington sind es nur zehn Haltestellen

Brixton, Stockwell, Opel, Pimlico

Ich war auf dem Weg zu einer hübschen Frau

Victoria, Green Park, Oxford Circus, Warren St

Dann war die nächste Station Houston

Zwei Stationen von meinem Ziel entfernt

Das King Cross (St. Panoras) dann Highbury/Islington

Bis zu Pats Haus dauert es nie lange

Ich frage einfach ein paar Leute nach der Richtung

Ich renne einfach die Treppe hoch und drücke auf die Gegensprechanlage

Eine Stimme sagte: «Wer ist das?»

Sag ich: «Pato Banton.»

Als sie die Tür öffnete, schlug mein Herz!

Das war Schönheit jenseits aller Vorstellungskraft

Ich ging ohne zu zögern hinein

Denn die ganze Nacht zu bleiben war meine Absicht

Das Tele hat sich um halb eins verabschiedet

Dann hatten ich und Pat ein kurzes Gespräch

Dann ins Schlafzimmer, hol mir eine Einladung

Also jetzt erzähle ich dir, was los war

Das Mädchen nahm ihre Perücke ab und hängte sie an eine Wand

Du hättest sehen sollen, wie sie kahl war

Ich war so geschockt und überrascht, dass ich nicht lachen konnte

Dann bearbeitet sie ihre Zähne und steckt sie in ein Glas

Ich konnte erkennen, dass sie an Ekzemen litt

weil sie überall überstürzt ist

Sie kommt auf mich zu und flüstert:

«Heute Nacht, Pato Banton, wirst du mein Geliebter sein.»

Ich nehme einfach meine Jacke und werfe mir eine Mütze auf

Aus der Haustür fange ich an zu galoppieren

Auch wenn das Mädchen schreit: «Pato, komm zurück!»
