The Witch in the Wood - Postscript

Last night, I had a dream

Walked a road so dead and haunting

Such a melancholy scene

It was a dilapidated cabin

In the front was a broke down wagon

On a skeleton of a horse who had outran his course

And I try to peer inside

I see the flicker of fire, it’s shining brighter

Painting patterns, perfect silhouettes

And this next part, I will never forget

The front door starts to open and the air is feeling colder

As the Witch, she comes outside

She points into the threshold of the cabin

Says, «It's too cold out here, darling, come inside.»

She says «Come, come, baby, come.»

Come, come, baby, come

Come, come, baby, come

Feel the warmth of the fire."

The road that’s in front of me

Is darker than I can see

And I need a light to shine my way

But the fire’s warm and welcoming

Should I push on through the mud

Or should I take her hand and forever stay?

It was then I saw the moon

And she smiled down upon me and advised what I should do

She said, «Desire is a powerful thing

We all want a way out with no suffering

I know the fire’s call is warm

But if you push on, I know you can make it home.»

Look, I’m familiar with the darkness of that path

And I know that it’s ugly, it’s part of the journey

That we all can have

If you stay in this Witch’s shelter, it may not seem all that bad

But you’ll be doomed in the cabin forever

With a wagon, witch, and dead horse off a path you could have had

The road that’s in front of me

Is darker than I can see

And I need a light to shine my way

But the fire’s warm and welcoming

Should I push on through the mud

Or should I take her hand and forever stay?

Letzte Nacht hatte ich einen Traum

Ging eine Straße so tot und eindringlich

So eine melancholische Szene

Es war eine heruntergekommene Hütte

Vorne war ein kaputter Wagen

Auf dem Skelett eines Pferdes, das seinen Kurs überholt hatte

Und ich versuche, einen Blick hineinzuwerfen

Ich sehe das Flackern des Feuers, es scheint heller

Malmuster, perfekte Silhouetten

Und diesen nächsten Teil werde ich nie vergessen

Die Haustür beginnt sich zu öffnen und die Luft fühlt sich kälter an

Als Hexe kommt sie nach draußen

Sie zeigt auf die Schwelle der Kabine

Sagt: «Es ist zu kalt hier draußen, Liebling, komm rein.»

Sie sagt: «Komm, komm, Baby, komm.»

Fühle die Wärme des Feuers."

Die Straße, die vor mir liegt

ist dunkler, als ich sehen kann

Und ich brauche ein Licht, das mir in den Weg scheint

Aber das Feuer ist warm und einladend

Soll ich weiter durch den Schlamm gehen

Oder sollte ich ihre Hand nehmen und für immer bleiben?

Da sah ich den Mond

Und sie lächelte auf mich herab und riet mir, was ich tun sollte

Sie sagte: „Verlangen ist eine mächtige Sache

Wir alle wollen einen Ausweg ohne Leiden

Ich weiß, der Ruf des Feuers ist warm

Aber wenn du weitermachst, weiß ich, dass du es nach Hause schaffst.“

Schau, ich bin mit der Dunkelheit dieses Pfades vertraut

Und ich weiß, dass es hässlich ist, es ist Teil der Reise

Das können wir alle haben

Wenn Sie im Unterschlupf dieser Hexe bleiben, scheint es vielleicht gar nicht so schlimm zu sein
