Lady Margaret she sits in her bower sewing

Ma ba and the lilly ba

When she saw the knight with his horn a-blowing

On the very first morning of May

So he’s mounted him down off his horse so high

And she catched him around the middle so small

But her father sitting up at his window-side

On a-hearing the parrot did say

«Oh there come a cat to my window side»

«And I was a-calling my pretty mistress»

Also hat er ihn auf das schwarze, schwarze Pferd gesetzt

Und sie ritten, bis sie an die breite Meeresküste kamen

Nur drei Stunden, bevor es Tag wurde

Also hat er ihn so hoch von seinem Pferd geritten

Und er hat ihr den Rücken gekehrt

Und sie hat ihn so klein in der Mitte erwischt

Und stürzte ihn ganz ins Meer

Manchmal sank er, manchmal schwamm er

Aber ihr Vater saß oben an seiner Fensterseite

Als er es hörte, sagte der Papagei

Dass du so lange vor dem Tag weinst?»

«Oh da kommt eine Katze an meine Fensterseite»

Und es ist Ma Ba und die Lilie Ba

«Und ich rief meine hübsche Geliebte an»
