The moon hardly shines down in Echo Canyon

It just hangs around about an hour a night

In a sliver of sky 'tween narrow horizons

I don’t even notice as it passes me by

The crickets are calling across Echo Canyon

A chilly wind moans to join in the song

Then a coyote howls out there in the distance

I ain’t goin nowhere so I’ll just sing along

Well I took a ride out toward Echo Canyon

Like I do on those days when the blues get me down

Went lookin' to find my lost inspiration

Where there’s nothin' but nothin' for miles around

A rattlesnake on the rim along Echo Canyon

Spooked my sweet mare, and I ended up thrown

Now day’s turned to night down here at the bottom

Where I’m shiverin' and singin', just tryin' to keep warm

And now the air has gone still here in Echo Canyon

As that cold lonesome feeling takes hold of my heart

And a coyote’s answer somewhere in the dark

Der Mond scheint im Echo Canyon kaum herunter

Es hängt nur ungefähr eine Stunde pro Nacht herum

In einem Stück Himmel zwischen schmalen Horizonten

Ich bemerke es nicht einmal, als es an mir vorbeigeht

Die Grillen rufen über den Echo Canyon

Ein kühler Wind stöhnt, um sich dem Lied anzuschließen

Dann heult dort draußen in der Ferne ein Kojote

Ich gehe nirgendwo hin, also singe ich einfach mit

Nun, ich bin zum Echo Canyon gefahren

So wie ich es an diesen Tagen tue, wenn mich der Blues fertig macht

Ich habe nach meiner verlorenen Inspiration gesucht

Wo meilenweit nichts, aber nichts ist

Eine Klapperschlange am Rand des Echo Canyon

Hat meine süße Stute erschreckt und ich wurde geworfen

Jetzt ist hier unten der Tag zur Nacht geworden

Wo ich zittere und singe, versuche nur, mich warm zu halten

Und jetzt ist die Luft hier im Echo Canyon still geworden

Während dieses kalte, einsame Gefühl mein Herz erfasst
